LAIKIPIA HIGHLAND GAMES 2010

18th September 2010

GENERAL INFORMATION: A detailed timed programme for the event will be availed to all guests upon arrival.

The event will kick off on September 18th, at 9 am sharp, with all teams registered and ready to go.

Most people- if coming by car from Nairobi - prefer to arrive the day before the event, the 17th of September, and camp on the Conservancy. Most people will spend Saturday night and leave at their leisure on Sunday, the 19th, after breakfast. Limited accommodation is available at Thompson Falls Lodge, in Nyahururu, details below, which is only one hour away from us.

Entry Fees Per car Kshs. 1,000 - independently from number of guests; this applies to every car, but is included in the self-campers fee.

Camping fee for self campers: per car – Kshs. 6,000

NO ENTRY FEES WILL BE PAID AT THE GATE. FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, WE HAVE TWO OPTIONS; YOU CAN PAY BY CHEQUE MADE OUT TO THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY TRUST. WE ARE UTILIZING A SAFARICOM M-PESA LINE: 0710107201 WHERE PAYMENT MAY BE SENT IN ADVANCE BY GUESTS UTILIZING THEIR MOBILE PHONES; A CODE WILL THEN BE RECEIVED VIA TEXT MESSAGE BY GUESTS WHO HAVE PAID. THIS CODE WILL BE YOUR ENTRY ACCESS AND MUST BE PRESENTED FOR VALIDATION AT THE GATE UPON ENTRY.

ACCOMMODATION Most people, since the games begin early on Saturday 18th, prefer to arrive the night before - and spend night after games conclude.

1. SELF CAMPERS:
We are establishing a camp site for self campers, who will bring their own tents. Toilets and showers will be available. Cost Kshs.6000 per car.

2. HIRED TENTS
Tented accommodation in fully furnished tents by Robin Hurt Safari provided at $140 per person per night for one night; additional nights at 65% or $91 per person, double or single and bathrooms en suite. You can pay them directly, letting us know so we are on
the same script.

IF YOU PREFER WE CAN DO THE RESERVATION ON YOUR BEHALF

FOOD & DRINK Snacks, Drinks and ice cream will be for sale at stalls set up in the field, throughout on the day of the event.

A restaurant serving meals and snacks will be open for dinner on Friday evening, and remain open, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for the convenience of our guests, through Saturday evening through to breakfast on Sunday. Catering by Thompson Falls Lodge, with payment directly to the caterers on site for all meals.

A cash bar will also be available in our beautiful lighted dining boma under the stars!

ENTERTAINMENT Local entertainment will be provided the night before and after the event, whilst all guests will enjoy the athletes, acrobats, and dancers throughout the day during the festive Highlands Games.
